Standard PF-P320 Automatic Setup Desktop Paper Folder Review
Paper folders range from very basic to extremely high tech but most people’s needs fit somewhere in the middle. The Standard PF-P320 Desktop Paper Folder offers a reliable machine with convenient operation while still being user-friendly. This durable device is designed for high volume performance in places where ease of use and accuracy are of the utmost importance. Here is a closer look at the details of the PF-P320.
Strengths:
- The central control panel utilizes large push buttons that are easy to read and simple to use. Status updates are clearly read on the LCD panel. A jam detection system alerts the user to any misfeeds or clogged items. A counter with a 10-digit keypad offers both batch and total fold countings.
- Four sheet sizes and six fold styles are pre-programmed into the machine and only require the touch of a button to adjust for. The six fold patterns include C, single, double parallel, engineering, Z, and gate folds. An optional cross-folding accessory is available to assist in the accurate production of precise right angle folds. A manual override allows customizable folds, two of which are storable in the computer’s memory.
- Minimal maintenance of this device simply adds to the convenience. The feed roller and paper separator pad are very easy to replace. Removing the rollers requires no tools, making it easy to clean and replace them if needed. It also allows easy access to the inner parts for jam clearing.
- The feed tray holds up to 250 sheets at once, ranging in size from 2.6″ by 3.4″ up to 11″ by 17″. About 250 sheets are processed per minute when using standard size paper. A noise reduction mode offers quieter operation but only runs at 150 sheets per minute. The device is preset for half letter, letter, legal, and double letter sized paper, with additional options for irregular sizes. Paper weights can range from 13lb bond up to 70lb bond.
- A one year manufacturer’s warranty is provided on this model.
Weaknesses:
- There isn’t an option for multiple sheets to fold together. This might not be an issue for some offices but is a nice feature for the making of multi-sheet newsletters, bulletins, and programs. For a comparable folder with this ability, we suggest the Martin Yale 1812.
- Weighing about 80 pounds, this will be a heavy machine to move around without casters on the bottom. If you foresee yourself needing to move this device on a regular basis, you may want to store it on a cart so that it can simply be rolled to wherever needed.
As evidenced in the many strengths, the Standard PF-P320 is a great paper folder for any office. It will provide years of reliable folding and improved desktop productivity, saving you both time and money. In fact, in the money you save, this device will eventually pay for itself. With the combination of easy operation, rapid speeds, and accurate folding, this machine is both convenient and efficient. We think the PF-P320 is an excellent choice for your next paper folder.
