Wanted: a nippy city car

Many two car families living in larger cities own one larger sized family car they drive on longer journeys or when the entire family hits the road, and one smaller sized run-a-round car they use in congested city traffic.

A smaller city car makes sense on many level as it requires less fuel, is cheaper to tax and insure than larger vehicles and it’s also easier to manoeuver in busy city streets. Some people opt for larger 4&4 vehicles because the car makes them feel more protected against other cars bumping into to them, but with a smaller car you are more reactive and thus more able to get yourself out of a tricky situation instead of perhaps denting your car. And it is of course a lot cheaper to own a small city car than a larger fuel-hungry 4&4.

There is a vast array of small vehicles out there aimed at the two-car city dwelling family. The beauty is than when you are looking at cars this size you do not necessarily have to look at used car as the new cars offered by manufactures come with relatively affordable price tags. One make to consider is a new Vauxhall. Vauxhall offer a large range of small to medium cars which can all be considered suitable for driving in congested areas. The smallest one on offer is the Vauxhall Agila hatchback which according to several reviews is both spacious and practical. The engine is small, either 1.0 or 1.2 but this shouldn’t be much of an issue when it’s only used for city driving.
