Royal Sovereign CS-900DL Create and Laminate Deluxe Kit Review

Laminating can be a fun and easy way to create and save a multitude of craft projects and children’s artwork. But the long list of supplies you’ll need can add up fast. In an answer to that, Royal Sovereign put together the Create and Laminate Deluxe Kit. It contains over 250 pieces to get you started. Here are the details of the kit.

The Laminator. The CS-900 is a small, easy-to-use device. The slim machine weighs two pounds and is only about a foot long, allowing it to easily store on a desk or in a drawer. It works by the single touch of a button. About seven minutes are needed to warm up the rollers, which is kind of lengthy but gives you time to gather the rest of your supplies. Also, it doesn’t do cold lamination, so you’ll have to be careful with heat sensitive items.

The Pouches. The Royal Sovereign Kit comes with 135 laminating pouches in various sizes. There are forty each for 4X6 photos, standard letters, and bookmarks. Photo and letter size framed pouches come in a set of five each. And there are also five pouch films specifically designed for luggage tags with loops. This machine takes 3mil to 5mil hot film pouches up to nine inches wide. Some school artwork won’t fit in this size machine but most will be able to slide right through.

The Paper. Forty recipe cards ready for lamination are contained in this kit as well as five tabbed and five pre-printed recipe cards. After being filled out and processed, these cards can be neatly filed into the included recipe box. The lamination will protect your recipes from spilled food or liquids that can so easily make handwritten instructions illegible.

The Magnets. Did you know laminators can also create magnets? This kit has 40 adhesive backed magnets ready for personalization. It also includes a fridge notepad and pen, both with a magnet. These are very handy to have around while the 40 can become handcrafted gifts for friends and family.

The Supplies. These items can be used to decorate everything you may want to laminate. Forty pieces of construction paper can be personalized with the five crayons and ten colored markers included. You can also use just about any craft supplies you already have on hand. A glue stick and 12 inch ruler come with this kit for extra convenience.

The Downsides. While this kit is a great set of starter supplies, it doesn’t have the greatest laminator. And you will want to be careful to not touch the outside, as it may get fairly hot. This device doesn’t shut off automatically, which could cause it to overheat if left on too long. And the temperature settings are pre-set, so you won’t have as much control.

Overall, this kit provides an excellent craft project for kids or adults. It would be great to take along on a weekend vacation as fun entertainment for children. The few downsides can be easily avoided by proper preparation and use. If you’re considering this kit, as long as you are aware that you’re getting a basic laminator intended for light, home use, you shouldn’t have any problems. So check out the CS-900DL today and start creating!
