WiFi – Bad for Our Health?

The creation of wireless networks or what we call WiFi has been very lucrative and prevalent in this day. Back in the days, it raised a few eyebrows when displeasing reports got to the media. At this time, the trend is with WiFi capable phones, they appeal to the public by giving them wireless connections where ever they are, integrating their lives with the digital society.
Before proceeding on how WiFi makes our lives more pleasant and effective, we must dig up more of the technology, since the establishment of these WiFi hotspots will influence everyone not far from now. Basically, a wireless network produces radio signals, not unlike cell phones and radios do. A WiFi device uses radio signals to carry data, most commonly to a router or network gadget. Radio waves as we know have several frequencies, ranging from 30 kHz to 300 GHz. These frequencies have a lot of uses, from fm radio to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). WiFi networks typically use the 2.4GHz or 5GHz channels, because high frequencies can transfer more data.
Have you sometimes felt dizzy for no reason at all? Have you at times observed a difference in behavior from your children? Well, you have the right to know, it might be because of the radio waves produced by these wireless devices. While the media and certain scientists have discarded the issue and often labeled it as a lie. You need to know that there are existent reports that show a direct correlation between wireless networks and declination in human health.
In 2007, WiFi researches were done and several cases were found to be disturbing. David Dean, a councilor in Merton, South London, and the managing director of a publishing company, describes his experiences, “When I go to places, I know when there is WiFi, it’s when my head starts to buzz”. Alasdair Philips, the scientific and technical director of the lobby group Powerwatch has admitted to the public, “I have seen enough anecdotal material to be convinced that some people are affected by WiFi radio waves.” In addition to, wireless signals are likely to affect the children more, because of their thinner skulls; anxiety and restlessness are observed in experiments with children aged 3 to 8. Various published reports have shown harmful health effects associated with those living or working close to mobile phone masts.
So, with all these proofs and reports on how WiFi can harm us and eventually our children, how could they continue to put up WiFi hot spots? The answer is simple and is related to a query found in the experimental results. Not everyone is affected by wireless signals, or at least not in the same way. Studies managed by Elizabeth Cullen have shown that only a category of people, are affected by WiFi signals. Statistics also indicated that only about 5% of the population has this sensitivity to radio waves.
Because most of the researches done were limited by the lack of test samples, the final reports of the effects of WiFi to the public’s health are not absolute. Those concerned with the harmful effects may want to restrict their use of WiFi and similarly keep their phones at a distance.
