Are PopUps Really Serving You?

You’ve decided that you might want to learn about something, so you do a Google search. You then choose one of many results that Google offers and click on it. Then you have an unfortunate surprise if the page loads. Instead of being presented with helpful content that will help you read more about your subject, you are presented with a pop up. The pop-up is an annoying advertising campaign and no matter how many times you try to close it, it won’t go away–unless you offer it your e-mail address. Finally you may close your browser once and for all because you are so irritated. That web page owner’s maneuvers haven’t gotten the best of you!

There is a good rationale that a lot of people hate pop ups. They’re frustrating. They are usually intrusive. The kinds that play sound might find yourself getting you in trouble with your boss (or someone else in the room). They make extravagant pledges. They demand your personal info if you would like them to go away. Some of them sometimes install malware and cookies into your personal machine. There aren’t very many people who actually like coming across pop-ups and yet most IMers continue to use them. Why?

The sad fact is that IMers continue using pop-up ads because they actually work. They order interest. They make it possible for them to create e-mail promoting lists. It is proven again and again that a pop up ad will produce more opt ins than an opt in box placed in a sidebar or in the body of a web page. They occasionally even result in direct sales. Sadly, these dumb pests actually get the job done a lot of the time so, unless someone can make a better tool to use, most Internet Marketers are probably going to keep using them.

Of course, that doesn’t means that most Entrepreneurs should continue to use them. What is the worth of an e-mail address which was only received through duress? Usually what goes on is that the particular person just chooses to immediately opt out of your list as soon as they get the first e-mail from you. How good can traffic be when nearly all of it clicks away because it is upset by your ad? Obviously you need to generate income, but is this really your best option? Couldn’t there be an additional solution available to those who want to build an e-mail list and sell things?

The simple fact is just this: if you have a good item, you aren’t going to need a pop up if you can present that product well. Work hard at setting up a good product or service so that you won’t have to deal with the irritating pop ups to do your job for you. Compose the sales and splash pages in a persuasive tone. Catch the reader’s interest and then refuse to give it back through the energy of your content and copy. Here’s the truth: Web entrepreneurs only locate success and money on the net if the product that has been created is actually valuable. No pop up banner ad will ever have the ability to upgrade the true value of a product.
