Mobile phone capabilities
Third generation mobile phones with 3G capabilities have transformed mobile phone technology and the way that we use our mobile devices. There are a myriad of things that just a few years ago we could never have imagined using our mobile phone for. It seems that when it comes to mobile phone technology the sky’s the limit – literally. A trial has been scheduled to test whether a mobile phone running the Google Android operating system still works when blasted into space!
As a consumer culture, we expect more and more mobile phone capabilities as technology progresses. Here’s a few things that those using first generation mobile phones in the late 70s would never have imagined being able to do on their handset.
– Take pictures, watch videos and listen to music. It’s now possible to capture every moment on your mobile phone. Video, voice and picture messaging capabilities are standard across 3G phones. Furthermore, it’s now possible to stream TV shows, videos and music on your mobile phone.
– E-commerce. With access to the internet on our mobile phones, e-commerce has flourished. Internet banking, online shopping and apps for purchasing a number of things – such as movie tickets – is both popular and frequently used.
– GPS navigation. Lost? No problem. 3G phones can use GPS navigation systems to tell you exactly where you are and give you directions for where you need to go. You can even use the GPS to ‘check in’ to social networking sites while you’re on the move.
– Constant communication. Whether you’re logging into Facebook or updating your Twitter status, today’s mobile phone technology allows us to constantly communicate to the whole world.
Today, mobile phones are a computer, mobile, MP3 players and camera all rolled into one. While such advancement is impressive, the technological capabilities of our mobile phones can also be a bit daunting and beg the question “do we really need to be able to do all this on our mobile phone?”
It’s only natural that we want to keep up with technology, so to choose the right phone for you, make sure you compare mobile phones and decide what you really need your phone to do. Once you’ve decided what mobile capabilities you would like your phone to have, you can start research whether you would like to sign up to Vodafone, Telstra, Virgin, 3 or Optus plans, using comparison sites such as www.whistleout.com.au.
