Climate Change Affects Us All
Many people remember snow falls when they were kids that brought up to six feet of snow in what seemed overnight, but actually came down in a period of a couple of days. This does not happen much any longer. Global climate change is taking place and it is happening fast enough that the generations that are alive right now can notice the difference from just a few years ago. A few years ago is a rhetorical statement, but really we are only talking about the climate change from what was the norm 40 years ago to what is now the norm in 2011. Climate change affects us all in one way or another.
A good instance of how climate change is affecting all of us is seen in the price of foods that were once abundant. In the US, the south has experienced some really bad frosts at the time when peach trees are in bud. It killed the peaches. The price of peaches went through the roof because of the supply and demand rule. The more you want it, the less there is, the more it costs. Foods from other parts of the world have gone up in price because of inclement weather conditions that are not conducive to good crop production.
Our day to day life is very profoundly affected by climate change. Lately we see weather patterns that are not on their normal course and an increase in erratic weather all over the globe. Scientists are telling us the changes are due to global warming. Countries that depend on crops, and most do, are failing badly in an already tough economy. The scientists have also reported that this global warming can be lessened with measures to stop green house gasses, pollution and destruction of the ozone layer. When the world became industrialized, the almighty gold coin was most important no matter how much chaos and destruction was wrought on the earth or in the skies.
This climatic change is not selective as to who or where it takes down whole countries that need good crop production, or the islands that are disappearing because they are ice islands and the ice is melting right out from under the homes. It may well be the waters of the oceans will rise so much that coast lines will never be the same shape again. The pursuit of the gold coin and the neglect of the earth that produced that gold for the coin have led to our planet fighting back.
Areas that once had moderate summers now swelter in the summer heat; areas that experienced mild winters are being hit with snow storms that leave behind more snow than the populace of those areas has ever seen. The earth is fighting back in natures own progressive way. Nothing in nature will stop mankind from creating his own demise, but nature will ensure that life goes on, with or without mankind.
