Delhi is known for its art, culture and historical places. Delhi has a colourful history and amazing historical places which makes it a favourite travel destination. Some of the most significant historical places are:
Red Fort
Red Fort is build by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan in 16 century, it almost took 20 years in the construction of Red Fort.It is build by redstones and situated near the chandni chowk .Entrance to the fort is from Lahore Gate, it is so called because it is faces toward Lahore, Pakistan. Main attraction in the fort are Diwan-i-am , it is also called the hall of public audience where the emperor here complains of gerenal people . Diwan-I-khas is the hall of private audience where the emperor takes the private meetings, Royal baths, Rang Mahalor, Moti Masjid.
Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid , was built by the great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.It is the largest Mosque of India, its construction beguns in 1644 and completed in 1658 at a cost of 10 lakhs of rupees, it has four angle towers , three gateways and two 40 m high minarets. It is one of the finest Specimen of Mughal architecture ,
India Gate
India Gate was build in 1931 , it is 42 m hign arch of victory.The names of 90,000 soldiers who lost their lives during third world war was inscribed on the walls.In 1971, Amar Jawan Jyoti was lit under the arc of india gate to honor brave unknown soldiers. It is also known as the All India War Memorial, India Gate was designed and constructed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
Qutub Minar
The Qutub Minar in Delhi is apparently the largest tower in the india ,it was constructed in 1192 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak.Built exclusively by red brick and sandstone this minaret in Delhi is an exquisite example of Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture. It has 5 storied. Each tower of the famous Qutub Minar has unique designs. Inspired by the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan the Qutub Minar is an interesting mix of architectural styles. The base of the Qutub Minar measures 14.32 meters and the top of the structure measures 2.75 meters. The first 3 stories of the Qutub Minar has different designs. While the base has angular and circular flutings, the second one is round. The third storey of the Qutub Minar has only angular flutings.
Old Fort
Old Fort is buit by Sher Shah Suri in 16th century,it is a fascinating building ,famous tourist attraction and a evidence of Fantastic Mughal art.
