Bennee Gee Bio
Bennee Gee (pronounced Ben-ee) is a DJ from London, UK specialising in a vast array of commercial and urban style music. Bennee Gee is known for playing anything that he feels will fit the party he is playing for. He is most notable for his UK music based mixtapes & CDs which feature old-skool styles of House and Garage music that was very popular in the UK during the early 2000s. More recently, he has branched out this mixtape series to include music from the emerging UK Funky house scene.
Early Career
Bennee Gee first began a career as a radio DJ as a 16 year old in 2001 on A local based radio station called “Code Ten FM” and mainly focusing on playing a mix of R&B and UK Garage music. Whilst trying to gain experience Bennee Gee made appearances on various top pirate radio stations in London including Ice FM, Dvine FM and Mac FM. The UK grime scene was also beginning to emerge at this time and he had a few releases in this style of music on vinyl that had relative success at that time and helped gain more exposure for his name in the London DJ scene.
Bennee Gee on Freeze FM
It was whilst studying for his degree in Music & Media Industry Management in 2003 that Bennee Gee was offered a prime time breakfast show on one of the leading radio stations in London called freeze fm. This show was to go on to be a tremendous success and lasted from July 2003-2009.
The radio show attracted tremendous media attention and included guest appearances from celebrities such as Ja Rule, Tinchy Stryder, Kano, Jordin Sparks, Omarion, and Chamillionaire.
Bennee Gee Mixtapes & CDs
During this time Bennee Gee’s radio show gained a strong following and it was from that exposure that interest in his mixtapes grew. Despite, initially giving out the mixtapes for free at first it was soon realised that demand outgrew the supply and they were soon sold in shops and online. Most notable was the “Bennee Gee Slowjam Classic” & “Back To The Roots:Old Skool Garage” CD series which sold copious amounts. Bennee Gee was quoted as saying “It got so crazy at one point that a copy sold on ebay for ?50, which was funny as I was still selling them for ?5 at that time”.

Bennee Gee Club Career (2004- Present Day)
During his time on Freeze FM Bennee Gee established himself as a club DJ playing mainly in Londons West End. Playing at prestigious London clubs such as Chinawhites, Funky Buddha, Pangaea, Caf? De Paris and Hammersmith Palais amongst others.
Bennee Gee also started to gain a celebrity fanbase also, playing at parties that were attended by the likes of Kanye West, Justin Timberlake as well as many UK football players and actors.
He also played at several important brand launches most notably those for Ed Hardy, Nike and Moet.
Present Day
Currently Bennee Gee is still continuing his club DJ career and playing at various venues across Londons West End on a weekly basis. Sometimes up to 3 clubs in the same night. He has stated he has no current plans to return to radio whilst he is still so busy playing at clubs.
