Creating A Mobile Version of Your Website

The web world has become an attractive haunt for all kinds of businesses from big to small and stretching across a variety of criteria. And the internet is indeed a very successful media of business promotion as the brand is almost advertised for free and reaches out to a much wider audience. Now, with the hype over internet enabled mobile phones, the exuberance regarding website designs has spilled over to its ‘mobile versions’ as well.

To create the right website design for mobiles the layout of the site including the following aspects need to be considered.

Logo- No matter o which scale the website is being viewed at, it is crucial to keep the logo attractive and yet not over imposing. The size of the logo ideally should not exceed 2KBs as, through mobile networks, images take even longer to load. You definitely would not want the viewer to shut the site down completely or not see the logo at all.

Navigation- It is an important aspect in full-blown web designs as well but in mobile versions of the site is more important as navigation is harder in the tiny device. The navigation bars thus, should hold all the key pages, places and things and placed right on top to make sure users can easily navigate through the site.

Content- It is always important a ultimately people look for valuable information on the net and one of the prime reason for people to access the internet through the cell is to avail this information on the go. However the content can be manipulated to suit the smaller platform by highlighting key points as well as providing links to view the entire article. It is of course not a possible practice for bloggers.

Though sites look incomplete without images, in the mobile website design, too many images and graphics are best avoided to keep the load time low.

Footer- The feet are usually the most tortured and neglected part of the body, the same goes website design as well. Usually the footer part of the website is made completely littered with hyper-links which become even more prominent in the smaller screen of the mobile phones. Cut down on the clutter for your mobile websites footer.
