Fun Pub Quiz Ideas.

Hello fellow quiz lovers.
You may or may not be into pub quizzes but a pub quiz is a very inexpensive form of entertainment. If done correctly it can be a huge attraction and can boost the bar takings on an otherwise quiet night.
A night out down the local has to be a fun experience, don’t you agree? I do and that’s why my pub quizzes are fun and very popular because of this. To make fun quizzes you need many different elements to keep the customers interested and I’m going to give you some good ideas in this article.
What you need to do is to get away from the serious quiz because this creates the wrong atmosphere, trust me, you don’t need it. The quiz should be very easy, you want anyone to be able to take part and have a chance of winning.
You will find people in your pub that say no to taking part in the beginning will generally change their minds once they realise they can answer most of the questions. There is also a good chance you will get them hooked and have them return week after week.
It doesn’t take long for an easy fun pub quiz to become packed out every week, I should know, my quizzes are full week after week, year after year in 6 different pubs.
Let’s take the most popular quiz show on TV, The Weakest Link, why is it so popular? Because anybody can answer the questions and anybody can take part with a chance of winning. Apply this to a pub quiz and you can easily see the attraction.
I incorporate a TV show into my pub quiz, it’s Family fortunes and makes a great fun round that anybody can win, no matter what their intelligence.
Every week on the quiz team handout sheet I also add a moderately easy brain teaser. This gives the teams something to do while they are waiting for the quiz to start and it also adds another fun element to the quiz.
I try as often as I can to make my weekly special round or theme round as creative as I can think of. Try to think of strange subjects, like famous robots, and research them online. Come up with weird and wacky ideas to add another element to the fun quizzes.
Most importantly make your general knowledge round interesting too. Go online and search for things like “Did you know?”, “Strange but true”, “Record Breakers” and so on..
Once every 2 weeks I also have an unexpected speed round. A speed round is a manic 3 minute round where the teams have to guess as many answers as they can on a particular subject. Some speed rounds I have made are American States, U.K. Counties and Fruits.
Once in a while I will hand out Dingbats before the quiz starts to give the teams something to do and also I award 2 bonus points to the team that guesses the most correct. If you are not sure what a Dingbat is then it’s a picture which represents a well known saying or catch phrase. A kind of puzzle.
As you can see, there is plenty you can do to make a pub quiz a fun and exciting night out that your customers will look forward to every week.
