The artist lived last twenty five years of his life in this place After shifting herein 1953 he never went elsewhere. This museum was founded by Stockbridge Historical Society The artiste established a trust which he decided to hand over to this Society He had made this trust responsible for preserving all his artwork for after his death to be cherished by his fans This is what makes this museum world class and stand apart from the others , which do not have his original artwork or have maybe just one or two pieces There are as many as 574 paintings that have been done originally by the artist himself These include a fantastic collection of paintings and drawings done in his own hand, spreading over his life time
His studio which was in Stockbridge, but out of the museum premises, was eventually shifted within the museum site From the month of May through October, this place is flooded with people who come in great numbers to see the original art done by Norman Rockwell. The studio has on display, some of his personal items, which he valued and along with this there are other art materials, his library which he valued and assorted furnishings You will be delighted to see other Rockwell items, as many as one thousand of them There are many of his pictures that have been displayed too You will be astonished to see so many letters that he received from his fans, his personal calendars, many other letters and some business related documents which have been exhibited too You will be surprised when you visit it and find your own answer as this museum is worth investing your time and interest in.
