When the brake is on, it locks the server lifter down, however the side sliding shelf can be used to position equipment in and out of the rack. Be sure that you familiarize yourself with the stabilizer break and its function in order to make sure that you are using this server lift in the safest way that is possible. There may be some minor adjustments to be made with the brakes, especially if the floor is uneven (which is not too common in data centres). If you are having a difficulty with the SL500 server lift because it will not go up or down, there may be a problem with the sensor switches that control the upper and lower limits. These items may well need replacing which can be done in house, or alternatively it may be a wiring problem.
