Sound and Light Show at Agra Fort

Visiting Agra and not watching Agra Fort incompletes your tour to Agra. The sound and light show in the Agra Fort is of great appreciation. It ends with the victory of Aurangzeb taking up ‘Sultanat of Hindusthan’. The UNESCO has declared Agra Fort as the heritage site.

The Hindi show brings out the authenticity of the entire story of the Mughal dynasty. Akbar built it in 1565. This military establishment was partially converted into a palace during Shah Jahan’s time.

Apart from the principle structure built by Akbar, his grandson added many more things to the existing structure. The huge fort is 2.5 km long and is consider as a precursor of Delhi Red Fort. Although the big fort surrounded by thick and strong red sand stones gives a scary look but is a masterpiece in itself. According to ancestors, the Agra Fort has more than 500 buildings in it out of which only few exists today and was constructed in place of a strong foothold of the Rajputs, the Badalgarh Fort. Two big ditches and thick walls surround the fort from all around.

However, one of the ditches has been filled and a road is constructed on it, serving as the entrance to the fort. The only original building of Akbar’s time left is the Jahangiri Mahal. It is a red stone building, decorated in simple manner.

After entrance, it is the first building to be noticed situated on the right hand side of spacious land. After that comes, the palace of Maharani Jodha Bai, all palaces gaving an elegant view of the ‘Taj’ through the slits.

The golden pavilions associated with the daughters of Shah Jahan’s daughters-Roshanara and Jahanara Begum and left of the fort is Grape Garden.
Later, Shah Jahan built a masterpiece to all palaces i.e. Taj Mahal, which is a truly a tribute to Mumtaz Mahal.
