Top five crossovers
‘Crossover cars’ is the name given to cars which combines the features of a sport utility vehicle with features from a passenger vehicle. It tends to look like an SUV but handle like a passenger car.
Below is a list of top five purchases in the crossover category as judged by an online car buyer’s guide.
The overall winner in this category is the Peugeot 3008 as it’s seen as an excellent all-rounder for families. It has got a stylish interior and it’s easy to drive. Its list price ranges from £17 000 to just over £23 500. If you would like to test drive a new Peugeot, Motherwell is one town where they have a local dealership.
The runner up in this category is the Volvo XC60 which is described as a fantastic family car but maybe not as fuel efficient as some of the other vehicles in the category. Prices range from approximately £28 000 to £41 000.
The bronze place in the crossover category goes to the Nissan Juke which with prices starting at £13 000 might be a more affordable alternative for many families. It’s stylish and fun to drive but the lack of headroom in the back means that the back seat is only really suitable for children. The Juke is closely followed by the larger and roomier Nissan Qashqai. It’s comfortable but also delivers a bit too much body roll. Prices start at just under £16 000.
Lastly we have the Skoda Yeti Crossover which delivers a massive cabin and brilliant handling although it’s also said to be a tad noisy. There’s a capable 4×4 version available and prices start just under £15 000.
So all in all there are crossover vehicles out there for any family’s needs. A test drive at your local dealers will tell you which car is the one for you
