Earth Day 2011 – In retrospec :-
In April of 1970, over 20 million Americans gathered in support to bring awareness to our envirnment and promote cleaner, more sustainable ecology through demonstrations and education. Springing from the initial Earth Day were significant amendments to the Clean Air Act and the creation of the Clean Water Act.
In recognition for their efforts, Earth Day Is celebrated each year today in many countries of the world. With over a billion people participating in it from sustainability fairs, cleanups and recycling events worldwide. Activities for this Earth Day 2011 have gained the interest of so many that now the whole month of April considered Earth Month and not just earth day. People feel a connection to our planet more than ever before.
From the success of our first Earth Day. It has grown into a movement for environmentalist everywhere. It has taken on a global scope to enclude clean air and water, and reduction in CO2 emissions to help prevent global warming. Recycling needs to be remember always in our efforts.

Nationally
Earth Day 2010 brought the Avatar Home Tree Initiative, a global effort to plant 1 million trees worldwide. An “Avatar” collaborative between Earth Day Network, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and 17 partner organizations around the world inspired 33,000 individuals to plant 1,006,639 trees on six continents all over the world, truly an awesome endeavore.

You can start your own Earth Day event, right on your own block.
- Invite your neighbors!
