The term police boots is a misnomer.
Police wear boots, and the boots they wear could be termed police boots, but a postal worker wears boots and their boots aren’t called postal boots.
We often get hung up on names and expressions and police boots is a perfect example. The term implies that there is a specific type of boot that a police officer would wear, but that is far from true. You may need extra arch support or a 9″ high boot to help with ankle support, and all of these things are what you need to consider before you even go near the checkout with your police boots of choice.
What you may also have to consider is budget, but a word of warning, don’t set the budget too cheaply. Cheap police boots are likely to be poor quality and will fall apart quickly and probably be extremely uncomfortable from day one. Even on a limited budget there are some fantastic boots out there, and don’t sacrifice your feet for a few extra dollars. What you save in dollars will badly affect your feet in terms of comfort and possible injury. Waterproof, steel or composite toe, lace up or zip or both, the choice of styles is incredible.
The question now is what police boots should be called if the term is wrong. Boots that police wear would be nearer the mark but a bit of a mouthful, or we could just call them work boots. In actual fact, police boots are in many guises such as the duty boot, tactical boot and military boot, as all of these are suitable for police wear. No matter what the boot is called the main thing is it has to be fit for the purpose you need it. Go find your perfect boot and just call it perfectly comfortable.
