Carbon fiber epoxy materials on heat aging resistance – A composite material, heat aging, speed up the test – Coatings Industry
HC coating Network News: Abstract: The temperature is 70 , relative humidity of 85% of the hot and humid environment, respectively T700 carbon fiber / Epoxy resin Matrix composites, T300 carbon fiber / epoxy Resin Composite and two composite / metal bonding structure of the 70d of the accelerated aging test, and the specimens before and after the aging of the mechanical performance test and nondestructive testing. The results showed that: hot and humid environment does not change the failure modes of the two composites, but the composite vertical and horizontal compression strength and shear strength decreased slightly; on the composite / metal bonding structure, heat aging environment will not result in bonding interface produce damage, but the bonding strength will decrease; aging first two basic mechanical properties of composite materials rather, after aging 70d T700 carbon fiber / epoxy composites retention rate was better.

0 Introduction Recent years, advanced polymer composites for high strength, stiffness and excellent corrosion resistance, in aerospace and other industries has been widely used. Although resin-based composite materials have excellent corrosion resistance, but recent studies have shown that it is in a certain temperature, humidity, UV light may also occur under conditions of mechanical properties to reduce corrosion [1-2], which is the resin, heat aging composite form of the main corrosion failure [3-6]. Hot and humid environment on the resin-based composite material properties mainly through the resin matrix, reinforcing fibers and resin / fiber bonding interface produce different degrees of damage arising. Temperature injury prone to heat stress, moisture is easily lead crystal crack, matrix degradation and other issues, and the material life reduced. Thus the service life of polymer matrix composites as the material used in the main problem. At present, because T300 carbon fiber is expensive, has greatly increased the T300 carbon fiber composite production costs. In order to reduce costs, carbon fiber composite materials to meet current market demand and further expand the application of carbon fiber composite materials, choose a relatively inexpensive T300 carbon fiber as a substitute for it is very urgent. T700 carbon fiber is a good alternative, its price is only T300 1 / 10 [7].
Aging test is to evaluate and study materials in a certain environment and the aging of the aging resistance as a means of [8-11]. Aging methods can be divided into two categories: (1) natural aging test, namely the use of natural environmental conditions or natural medium for testing; (2) accelerated aging test, namely the use of artificial methods or equipment in the indoor air environment within the simulation is similar to or a specific environmental condition, and strengthen certain factors, in order to get results in a relatively short period of time. On a resin-based composite materials for parts in the manufacturing plant, portfolio of three rooms and open-air hot and humid conditions of the aging environment on T700 carbon fiber / epoxy resin and T300 carbon fiber / epoxy composite and two composite and metal adhesive then the structure of heat accelerated aging test, and before and after the aging of the mechanical properties of materials testing and nondestructive testing.
