To Online Date Or Not?
I would have to say right off it does not hurt to give online dating a try. But there are a lot of things you need to take in consideration.
1. People lie about what they look like, what they do for a living etc. but you get that no matter where you meet someone but it is easier to lie online.
2. Men normally only want one thing and women normally only want one thing. Men typically want sex not all men but most. Women normally want money, not all but most. Those people have contaminated society for the people that truly seek companionship. Keep that in mind when you are trying out online dating or really when you are dating period, no matter where you meet them at. It is just easier to pull off scams on the net.
3. You really need to get a first glance in person pretty fast. The reason being I know so many people that have wasted months talking on the phone, trading photos and when they meet no chemistry at all. You need to first make sure they are worth meeting. But when you meet go in a group, do not go alone, meet in public and do not go home with them at all. Once you establish chemistry then you can continue online if you want to. Web cams do help out because you can see them and hear them but there is still that chemistry factor.
4. Another thing there are a lot of spammers online. If you are on an online dating site and you get spam, report it right away so they can be deleted. That is something I know happens, a lot people complain about spam but never turn the people in.
5. Never ever put revealing photos of yourself on a dating site or better yet any site. If you are looking for love that is going about it the wrong way, you will get the wrong kind of attention.
6. Do not give out personal information. If you can keep the conversation on cam and through mic, that is the best way to go. I would wait to give out my phone number or anything till after the initial face to face meeting and you decide there is chemistry. People can track through phone numbers, now you can get pre-paid phone because they are not registered like contract phones are. You have to really go on your own gut instinct about people. Just be careful.
7. Be patient and do not jump the gun. There have been so many people talk to someone for a few days and think they have met Mr. or Mrs. Right, but if you think about my other 6 points, they could be playing you.
To sum it up no matter where you meet people you are still going to have a lot of the same concerns as you would online.
I really do love the idea of online dating because I know the older you get, it gets a lot harder to find dates. Mainly because you are not in large groups like you were in school. So I would try it out with caution and everything will go great.
