Alternately you might plan to retire to an area more known for its natural beauty, such as the Everglades or the Florida Keys. These would set the stage for truly tropical island living, without leaving the country.
There are many universities and colleges in Florida young people will also find appealing. Perhaps you have retired from Minnesota, but your children still live up north, while the grandkids are almost ready to enter college. If you live near one of these, you will have the grandkids nearby most of the time, should they decided to move to Florida for college.
No matter why you are heading south, you are sure to find some of great places on Earth to visit throughout all parts of Florida. The Florida panhandle is another excellent place to retire to, with soft breezes and beaches not as crowded as those in Miami and along Florida’s sprawling east coast. You might even prefer these quieter areas for precisely that reason.
