The paste is heated at high temperature and rolled into a pancake-like slab of minimum 6 inches thick.Once cooled, the slab is hand-cut into rectangular tile pieces. Sintered glass tiles are made from glass powder pressed and heated until the particles fuse. These tiles are well known for its versatility and a scratch resistant finish. Cast type are made bymoulding a chunk of glass. These type of tiles are made by heating the mould until all the pieces melt and fuse together into a single layer.This type is used mainly for recycled glass tiles. Slumping and etching is done as surface treatments.During firing the slumped glass has been curved into concave or convex shapes. With low heating the slumped glasses are melted into relief molds. The tile is made into unique shape after cooling. A thin luminous layer is formed on the tile surface after etching. Using abrasion, an acid like hydrofluoric acid etches the surface or by applying the cloudy surface of glass on top of etching layer.
