Because she’s worth it
My wife’s birthday is around the corner and for once I’m pre planning what to get her, well sort of. I had planned to send her off to a day of relaxation at a Spa in the South West near Dorset, when I went to book it though I could only get a date for the middle of summer, I’ve booked it anyway.
The plan was to give her the spa day has an introduction to the main present, a nice new car to drive herself there. It’s been a crazy few years, 3 years ago we welcomed a pair of twins into our lives, since then our lives have been turned upside down. She also had to give up work to look after the babies and I’ve had to give up a job that involved a lot of travelling around Europe.
We always said that once we became parents bringing up our children the right way would be our priority, our parents have helped out enormously by taking the twins off our hands once a week to give us some time to catch up.
Once the twins were born my wife gave up her dream car, the Mini Cooper S – we got ourselves a Range Rover Vogue because she wanted something big and easy to get the kids in and out of. I got myself a little Ford Focus to get to work and back, it always felt like a compromise neither of us was too happy with but we got on with it.
Now that our finances have settled a little I’m going to buy her the new Audi A1, bring back some of her youth! I’m going to trade in the Focus at Blackburn Audi; I’ve asked them to put a ribbon around the new A1 for me. We’ll keep the Range Rover as our family car and my commuter car when I need to drive into work. Hopefully she will like the present and it will show how much I appreciate what she has given up for our family.
