Vauxhall Fashion Show

London’s public witnessed the most unusual fashion show in early February when many top models proudly showed their stuff on the world’s first car catwalk. The 20 metre long catwalk was constructed across the roofs of three Vauxhall Corsa cars taken from Vauxhall garage in Edinburgh to mark the 10th season of Vauxhall Fashion Scout which is a showcase for the best up-and-coming fashion designers, at London Fashion Week.

The brave models who were taking part in the Vauxhall fashion show are more used to performing on perfectly polished catwalks that are on the ground, spent a week learning how to walk in a perfect line at a height of over 1.5 metres ahead of the carefully choreographed three hour show.

The Vauxhall Fashion Scout became an established fixture during the London Fashion Week with a reputation of unearthing some of the best British fashion designers which included William Tempest, Prophetik and Bodyamr who have gone on to dress Cheryl Cole, Emma Watson and Daisy Lowe respectively.

The Vauxhall Fashion show was a success, everything ran smoothly and the models managed to walk along the catwalk without a stumble or trip. Vauxhall Fashion Scout will host another show next year but hopefully with yet another unusual way to attract and impress the London public.

Wendy Towler from Vauxhall Motors commented: “What better way to highlight our long-running commitment to emerging British fashion than by creating the world’s first carwalk and giving young designers a unique platform to showcase their talents.”
