The new sirens don’t need any additional operation, and officers can still make the decision to use or not to use the same as they do now. However, if these types of police sirens are fitted to vehicles the potential for officers to get safely to where they need to be is increased.
This new type of siren is suitable for all kinds of emergency vehicles and not just for use as police sirens. There is a cost consideration with these new types of siren but when weighed against the possible time saving and therefore life saving issues it may be a worthwhile investment. Of course there will always be the standard police sirens and these are effective in most cases. However, if you are sat cocooned in your vehicle and feel a strange vibration all around you then you have been targeted by a new type of siren.
