Tai Chi for a Healing Fitness Vacation
Deciding to learn tai chi for the first time can be a little daunting, especially after many years of little or no exercise. Rest assured though, tai chi is available to all ages and abilities and can be an easy part of any fitness regime. You can even take a tai chi fitness vacation with other people that have similar interests and abilities.
The slow movements of tai chi benefit the lifeforce – or “qi”- energy of the body, which follows the same principles as acupuncture. Sometimes there can be a problem or disruption of the routes carrying our internal “qi” energy, but by using the slow movements used in tai chi, this releases internal problem areas in the same way that acupuncture works. This is why, although tai chi began as a martial art, it has become famous for its reputation to heal people and lead to heightened energy.
While tai chi is a physical exercise, there are no similarities of going to a gym where you can quickly become out of breath, get strained or feel fatigued. Tai chi is an exercise that has slow motions that have been practiced for over 2,000 years by the Chinese, which benefits the mind and body. While increasing the body’s flexibility, exercising muscles, massaging the internal organs and increasing overall suppleness, it also this has direct benefits on the brain.
Tai chi can be practiced in your own home as a solo activity, but it is also practiced in groups with enormous social benefits. Tai chi teachers are available in most areas and vary in their experience, but once you have started to become interested in the sport, you can also go away for a weekend or vacation to tai shi seminars or tai chi workshops where you will learn more, thus giving yourself the perfect mind and body vacation. It’s good to be able to talk to others with the same interests and learn from their experiences. The energy of working in a tai chi group can be very powerful.
There are many tai chi events held all around the country, but one of the largest is in Albany, NY each June. It is called “Tai Chi Gala.” At this, like most large events, there are a series of guest speakers so you can learn more about the art of tai chi as well as hands-on workshops for participants of all abilities. Many of these events, especially the Tai Chi Gala, get booked well in advance so make sure you make reservations as soon as you know you want to experience a tai chi seminar as part of your tai chi vacation.
Everybody needs a vacation – if only to keep your sanity for the rest of the year. But going away for an adventure vacation such as to learn tai chi will give your body as well as mind a refreshing boost. Anybody who has been away for a yoga vacation will find similarities to these, as it is very similar to the beneficial effects it has on the body and mind. Everybody normally has limited vacation time each year, so attending a mind, body and holistic expo or holistic fitness vacation will give you that boost you need.
Whether you are looking for an adventure and fitness vacation, or just time away to learn tai chi to a higher standard, going away for a tai chi vacation will give you the benefit both the mind and body.
