Will Christina Aguilera Ever Return to the Pop Summit?
The famous superstardom curse of the American industry is at work again. The curse that has eaten alive a number of talented but careless musician and celebrities, has owned onetime American sweetheart Christina Aguilera. Gifted with all the fame and fortune she could have ever wanted during her teen years, Aguilera lived a high profile life just like numerous of her peers and rivals, couldn’t handle the media attention and her life spun out of control as soon as some rare disappointments came her manner.
The pop singer’s bad times or bad luck reached its zenith when she was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning along with her contemporary boyfriend Matthew Rutler, and they both got to watch the inside of a jail cell. Up until a year ago circumstances had looked promising again for the 30 year old singer, who seemed to be back on track after becoming a mother and making her musical comeback through her 2010 album Bionic.
Billboard magazine’s associate director of charts Keith Caulfield explained that such a downturn in celebrity lives is ordinary and cited the example of Mariah Carey whose TRL incident brought her a lot of adverse press, but she took it positively and silenced her critics through her smash hit ‘We Belong as a group.’
Aguilera and her partner, who was driving the vehicle, were arrested after the duo was found to be awfully intoxicated. She started off the year 2010 with the bitter confirmation that her album Bionic had miserably failed to impress her fans, selling a mere 250,000 units in the US. This led Aguilera to cancel her promo tour at the last minute, and even her musical film ‘Burlesque’ struggled to make an impact at the Box-office. Her marital disaster with Jordan Bratman rounded up a quartet of bad events for the Genie in a bottle-singer.
Other petty incidents such as her Super Bowl words gaffe and the Grammys’ on-stage trip have new fuel to speculation that her partying habits have gone out of mastery.
individual relations expert Jonathan Cheban thinks that Aguilera’s problems are nowhere near as serious as Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, but even her minor failures are picked up and exaggerated by the people for the reason that of her rude behaviour throughout her career. Cheban explained that during Aguilera’s peak time, it was mystifying to highlight her shortcomings as there was always the success part to talk about. But since the victories have dried up, the media has no choice but to report even her modest stumbles.
Cheban further pointed at Aguilera’s complete ignorance to acknowledge the rising stock of current pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and Katy Perry, as a reason of her falling out of favour in the individual. However, Caulfield insisted that the Americans are very fond of comeback stories and there is every chance that if Aguilera applies herself in the studios again, she will be liked again.
