Locum doctors jobs are done by the persons in the same locality of the hospital itself, as a substitute for the other doctor who would have been absent in the particular day or particular period of interval of time. Thus locums doctors will serve the general practitioners work in the form of general practitioners jobs and hence they are called as locum general practitioner workers. The general practitioners are the most needed doctors in this current situation. But mostly in many hospitals, locum doctors are only serving the general practitioners job.
