Conception issues and Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are so common that most women aren’t even aware that they have them until it effects conception, or becomes so painful that they go in to see the doctor. For most ovarian cysts, a few months will take care of them with no hardship to the woman, except maybe a little bit of pain.

However, other ovarian cysts will not go away and medical treatment will be needed. Most cysts are not cancerous, though, so that should set your mind to ease. But like anything else in this life, there are exceptions to the rule, and some cysts do become cancerous.

Ovarian cysts can affect conception due to the fact that they won’t allow the egg to be released, or they won’t allow the released egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Because of this issue with conception, most women won’t know that they have ovarian cysts until they are actually trying to get pregnant and go in for a checkup with their doctor because they have failed to get pregnant. Some ovarian cysts affect conception so badly that it will require surgery to remove. The problem with surgery is that it can leave scar tissue that has the same effect as the cyst originally did.

As was stated above, most cysts will go away on their own after a couple of months. You can also have a prescription for birth control pills to help reduce your chance of ovarian cysts. Birth control pills supply hormones that reduce the amount of estrogen and progesterone, which are the hormones that the ovarian cysts require to grow larger. If you take those hormones out of the equation, the cysts will reduce in number quite dramatically. Of course, you won’t be able to conceive if you are on the pill, either, so keep that in mind.

You may find holistic medicines that will help in the removal of ovarian cysts as well. Whichever way you decide to go, you should make sure that the cysts are not cancerous by setting up a time for your doctor to check them out. If they aren’t cancerous, and you’re not in too much pain, then you can look into the holistic side of things for extra help.
