Revision Tips That Every Student Should Know
Last minute revision during examination period is a normal thing for lots of students. This has been a practice for decades, but for students who want to be excellent and achieve high grades, they will definitely not be doing this kind of practice. Below are some of the tips that you can follow to enable yourself to be well prepared during any examination so that you will not be doing last minute study anymore in future.
Always be well prepared before an examination, at least two months before the examination week starts. You need to list down all the topics that you have learned through-out the months according to your school education syllabus. You can gather the information on the education syllabus either from your text book main topics or request it from your teacher. You must ensure and analyze which topics that you still have not finished covering during that period and also other topics that you have learned but still do not understand. If you find that quite a number of topics still not covered or being teach during that period or even topics that you do not understand, take extra initiative to gather more information from your teachers, make some notes from your gathering of information from the library or do group studies with your friends.
Although you think that some of the topics are not important, you’d better make sure that you really understand it so that if the topic does appear in the examination, you will be able to answer it easily. You must practice making mind map notes for easy remembrance of hot topics based on your school text books and also with correct facts and content. Mind mapping is a graphical way which you can represent ideas and concepts, plus also a visual thinking tool. It helps you to structure information in a simple way, analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and at the same time generate new ideas when answering subjective questions. In other word, the information through mind map is structured in such a way so that it can help your brain works faster.
Apart from that, you also need to do lots of exercises every day either from your text books or work (activity) book especially for certain subjects such as mathematics and science. As for subjective subjects like the one that requires you to write essays or other subjects that needed you to answer in objective manner, you can choose to practice using past year’s examination papers or answer questions from your text books or activity books. At the same time, you need to note down all the answer and all the facts that you have gathered into your mind map notes or exercise notes for easy remembrance.
