Hawaii Plastic Surgeon Performs Breast Augmentation, Liposuction

Silicone implants will more likely require a longer, and infra-mammary incision. An additional complication is the possibility of silent rupture for silicone implants. Surgeons guard against this by requiring regular MRI scans after the operation, but the FDA restrict augmentation with silicone implants to patients who are over 22. Augmentation with saline implants is available at 18, and there are no age limits for reconstruction for either implant type.
In the US the most common implant position is in the subpectoral pocket. The pectoralis major (the “pecs”) is the main muscle across the chest. In the subpectoral position the muscle gives coverage over the implant, which can hide ripples and wrinkles in the implant, and also helps control the positioning of the implant.
