How To Change and Let Go Of Old Patterns
When you wake up in the morning do you feel like you are ready to start the day as who you are or do you see one moment the same as the next, the same as yesterday? It is important in life to remember that all is changing constantly, including yourself. It is easy to forget and to accept ourselves as just the person we’ve already decided we are. Not letting go every day of not only how we see ourselves but the day as well, can keep us in a state of repetitive stagnation. We are never the same as we were yesterday. To think that we are the same as yesterday is to think that tomorrow will also never be different, that we will keep living a life that continues in a loop, with no way out.
Now I know it is easy not to be fully present with yourself or your outlook on your life. It is easy because we have grown accustomed to the patterns in our lives. Why change them, why try? Well, the funny thing is that even when our patterns are unlikable we tend to think we are stuck with them, that the patterns are part of us and we must keep at it the same way over and over again. This isn’t true. Just because you’ve done something the same way before doesn’t mean your behavior or your day must remain that way. This idea that we live in a repetitive pattern exists without consideration for the true reality of life; however, we internally accept it as real each time we wake up in the morning. This is not complicated. In fact it is far simpler than what we have set up for ourselves in how we live and act.
If we could be free to truly be ourselves from the moment we wake up, we would then be part of the change that is life and not resisting it. Do you find yourself feeling like you are in a rut or that nothing ever changes? This is you seeing the moment and yourself as the same as yesterday. It is practically impossible to stop time, yet we do it all the time in our heads. We replay the same day over and over without averting to anything different because we are accustomed to our role and to who we are. But what if this isn’t the truth? If we are living our lives in a way that never changes, we never grow, but live our days the same as years before.
We can allow change to happen by constantly letting go of who we are, by choosing to see the day as something completely new every time we wake up. We can give ourselves room to be present with ourselves and in our lives. The more present we are within ourselves and how we see the world, the more we will live the life that is meant for us. This is because we are allowing change to take place as it should. We are truly living our life instead of replaying a moment over and over. We are therefore part of life as it should be, living life without restraint and moving forward with it.
