Energy Saving Globe Light Bulbs
A common belief today is that the use of energy-efficient bulbs is the very easy way to save energy and make an economic difference in the home or business.
The CFL, or Compact Florescent Lamp has progressed significantly since it’s early days when just a few styles and shapes were available, for example the spiral shape CFL bulbs. These early low energy bulbs tended to be a dull orange colour due to a low Lumen value, as well as the bulbs would sparkle when first switched on.
Nowadays it is easy to see that energy saving bulbs have advanced in several ways since they were first introduced. Different decoratively shaped bulbs which offer a high lumens output are now well-known in business and homes.
Energy saver globe bulbs are large globe shaped bulbs, as expected, and can be used in most existing fixtures and fittings, directly replacing old non efficient, incandescent bulbs. A lot of people find they are an ideal advancement as they reduce costs; they save the environment as well as provide character and a stylish decorative look.
Globe Light Bulbs can be found in a range of sizes, equivalent wattages, bases, lumens output value, and colour temperature. Having all of these options is a good example of how new energy-efficient lighting is very different from early energy saving bulbs. Globe Bulbs are generally available in ES and BC bases, (Edison Screw & Bayonet Cap). Lumens value is a very important factor when purchasing any low energy bulbs. A higher Lumens value means the strength of the light output will be significantly stronger. Two bulbs of exactly the same wattage can have different lumens values!
Brands usually state a colour temperature in (K), Kelvin, on their packaging. As an example, a ‘warm white bulb may have a colour temperature of around 2700K, and emit a cosy, warm light. A globe bulb with this colour temperature would work well in a household environment. Daylight white bulbs, (colour temp. around 6500K); are more efficient in large areas such as educational instituations, workplaces and gymnasiums. Energy saving globe bulbs are generally available in both colours.
100mm and 120mm Globe bulbs are now a well known power saving lighting option all over the United Kingdom and across Europe. With a life span of around 8000 hours, they can save 75% to 80% energy used and minimize electricity bills. An attractive and sensible lighting solution.
