March plate-change
Ford’s 550-strong dealership network welcomed customers new and old to its nationwide showrooms during the weekend of 12th – 13th March 2011 with the all-new Ford Focus as it entered the March plate-change month as 2011 best seller.
Every new Ford Focus comes standard with voice-activated Bluetooth, USB connectivity, DAB digital radio, Thatcham Category 1 alarm and a Torque Vectoring Control system which optimises engine torque distribution between both driven wheels and mimics a limited slip differential.
The Ford Focus has been the UK’s top-selling car for 10 years since its launch in 1998 with latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show Ford Focus as 2011 best-seller year to date.
The new 1.6 TDCi diesel-powered versions of the new Ford Focus deliver over 67mpg, while powertrains featuring Ford’s new 1.6 EcoBoost turbo petrol engines return more than 47mpg, both on the combined cycle. Ford is hoping a new Ford Focus RS in a diesel engine to join the Focus line-up but this yet to be confirmed.
Shipments of the new five-door Ford Focus to UK dealers are flowing at a rate of 500 vehicles a day, around 55% of UK cars ordered are Zetec series, 25% top-end Titanium models and the balance Edge. Ford Focus Estate deliveries will start next month to bring this body style to dealerships by May 2011.
Nigel Sharp, Ford Britain managing director, said: “Our new Ford Focus delivers a level of refinement and comfort, combined with hi-tech features and connectivity, not found on a medium volume car. Dealers are ready with enough new Focus stock to keep the car in pole position in the marketplace.”
