The History & Future of Remote Controls
Televisions have been such a wonderful invention to the world. It brings us knowledge, entertainment and everything in between including the reality TV shows and some really bad TV as well. That is what Remote Controls are for thankfully. Sitting from one spot on the couch people can just press a button and change the horrible program to a much better one. There is no need to get up and walk to the TV to change the channel, you can do it while you are chopping up a salad or sitting near your computer desk. The remote control is by far almost as important of invention as the TV. It’s impressive to think that the first remote control was not wireless at all. A cable ran all the way to the television set and the name of that remote control was called “lazy bones”. Later in 1955 Robert Adler invented the first wireless remote and in 1956 it went into production. In the 1980’s the remote control switched from radio signals to infrared. Remote controls can now control just about any kind of device from just one remote control. You do not need a separate one for a VCR, TV, DVD Player, Blu-ray player or Satellite box. It still makes finding the right universal remote that controls everything right a tough job however.
Repairing TV’s, remotes for the equipment, and other Electronic Parts can be costly. Service fees are usually very high and the part prices can be expensive. Some parts can be very easy to install and with the internet can be a very easy do-it-yourself project. A person could save hundreds of dollars on labor fees to just install one or two parts that would have been super easy for a person to do it themselves. Remote controls are cheap enough that it is not worth replacing a circuit board or the buttons on it and can be easy to find one that works with a whatever electronic equipment a person might have. TV parts are still expensive but buying a television is still pricey even though they get better and cheaper, it might be worth it to fix what might be broken and wait for the next generation or a bigger sale to make due.
A remote control will play a huge part in the future of our society. They already have a remote control that can start your car and even get the heat or air conditioning going on board. They currently let gamers play from across the room without anyone tripping on the cords and pulling the gaming system to a system malfunction in the living room. While its not common in many homes, they can control the whole entire house, from the climate controls to all the lighting and even waterfalls and pool lights outside. Soon people will be able to add a wide variety of items to the list in their house. From the dishwasher, the coffee maker, the oven, the laundry and drier and who knows what else. Thanks to Robert Adler, we are much lazier and thankful for it for some reason.
