MBA or Regular Course? Dilemma of Present Generation

Are you at the crossroads of your life where you are unable to decide between an MBA and a regular course? Is the fact that most of your friends are opting for business management courses is making you confused? You are not alone as thousands of students all over the world are facing this dilemma around the world. Students on one hand have the option of doing masters in their own stream while on the other they can join some MBA courses which is one of the most secured career options.

Business schools have come up in all parts of the country from Kolkata to MBA in Delhi as they are the most sought after courses. The change in the business world in the last two decades has made sure that business schools have become hot favorite with the students around the world. In India with fast economic growth there has been a craze for MBA courses. Students from all streams barring a few are opting for MBA as a career option.

Many wonder if doing an MBA over regular masters course is just. There can be no perfect answer to that. It changes from person to person and is dependent on a lot of factors ranging from individual preference to career goals and also the cost of the course. Here are a few things that you need to keep in mind before opting for an MBA program:

First and foremost ask yourself if you really have interest in business management courses. If your interest doesn’t lie in such a course never opt for it no matter how good the job prospects might be. Rather opt for a stream of education in which you are interested….

Consider your career goals and see if an MBA will directly help you in your endeavor. If you are an engineer employed in the IT Sector and you want to go into core software development than an M.Tech would be better option than MBA courses.
Do not enroll yourself into a business school to get an MBA degree just because your friends are opting for it. Rather opt for masters where you feel you have an advantage over others, something you are passionate about.
Most MBA courses come with a hefty course fees compared to regular courses. Foresee if the investment you make in the MBA course will give you better returns compared to other regular courses which you might opt for.
Does your financial status not allow you to opt for an MBA which may not be a case if you opt for some regular course? Seeking a loan might be a good idea but during the recent financial turmoil many freshers failed to get job in the industry. In such situations paying back a loan became a difficult proposition.
You can opt for other specialization courses such as Masters in Finance, Accountancy, HR which get you the same kinds of jobs as an MBA but burn a smaller hole in your pocket.

All these will help you decide whether to opt for MBA courses or do a regular course. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but you need to be on the side which has more pros for you than cons.
