Sometime in the history of mankind, man must have realized the importance of completion. One or two missing frames can actually make a classic resemble a train wreck and hence, the need to watch full movies is still a dream for many.
As mentioned before, perfection succeeds conclusion. And only a compelling build up will lead to the perfect conclusion. With the mention of the word perfection, comes to mind some names from yesteryears, like Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.
The point being made is perfectly illustrated if somebody were to remove the final confrontational scene in the Brian de Palma movie, Scarface. Al Pacino’s now legendary dialogue, or even a young Robert De Niro strutting his stuff in the Taxi Driver, would’ve never come to light. You never know what you’re going to miss, if you don’t know what it is in the first place! Rather than going for a lousy deleted scenes package that are the norm today, one can watch full movies online to save the inconvenience. What is the purpose of watching some disembodied scenes?
Some critics point out that editing is a part of the movie-making process, and the final product should be appeasing to everyone.
