Weather Balloons Types Based On Altitudes!
This information can be obtained during vertical ascent of the balloon when it is in atmosphere or during its motion when it reaches the maximum altitude. This can be calculated by ascent rate times ascent time gives the ceiling height of the cloud from the ground level. The ceiling usually measures 76 mm x 40 cm diameters. It may become difficult to decide about when could the weather balloon disappear or the color may get fade up since the cloud base is solid and flat. It may be possible for the observer to get some false ceiling or poor visibility though the weather balloon is safe, reliable and simple wet snow and rain may slow down the ascent of weather balloon. Pilot balloons are also a type of weather balloons that are used now a day for measuring of height to the cloud from the ground. This works similar to the ceiling balloons.
Sounding balloons also called as a type of high altitude weather balloons that carry instruments such as aloft of send back information on atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity in the atmosphere by means of a small expendable measuring device called a radiosonde. This global positioning system which is the satellite based is thus used to know more information about wind. A flexible latex material is carried by Sounding balloon. This unit is hanged at the lower end of string and it is called as radiosonde. With this radiosonde, different parameters can be determined like ozone concentration. The balloons are generally used to fill with hydrogen though helium is also used as the substitute. Since hydrogen is available at less cost it is used.
The weather balloons will generally go to 40 km altitude which is limited by the diminishing pressure that causes the balloons to expand to some degree until it disintegrates. At this level the sounding rocket is used. Satellites are used after the sounding rockets to go to higher altitudes. The weather balloons are used for cluster ballooning and they are sighted as the flying object that is unidentified.
