How to Network your Business Effectively

It’s granted. You have probably designed the most creative and eye-popping business cards. But do you know what to do with them? Do you keep them in your desk or in the box collecting dust? Keep in mind that you need to network in order to get new contacts, and that would be done best with well designed business cards.

So, with the money and time you invested in creating your cards, it’s only fitting that you don’t leave them collecting dust in a corner. You need to get them in the hands of your target customers. You need to show people how effective your business and your offerings are. Here are ways to do that:

1 – Keep them with you all the time.

This can be in your pocket, wallet, briefcase, or in your office. Put some in your card as well. In doing so, it would be easy for you to introduce yourself to your target customers anywhere and whenever you meet them. Make it your daily routine to ensure your cards are with you before you leave home or your office. When you run out of them, refill your supply.

2 – Use a good card holder to keep your cards in good condition.

A nice card holder will make sure that you present your cards to prospective customers in good condition. A card holder will also make sure that you keep the cards you collect in good shape. If other people see that you keep their cards protected, they will do the same to your cards. A good practice to follow is to read the card you receive first before keeping it. Ask questions if you have one. This will show the other person that you are interested in them.

3 – Use them when taking notes.

Whenever you need to jot down notes, instead of using a scratch paper, use the back side of your cards. Just make sure to keep the back of your cards blank so you can write your notes. This can be your direct number or personal address. Keep in mind though to give your personal details only to people you trust.

4 – Consider putting your cards in your letters and bills payment.

If you are paying bills, consider placing your card in the envelope. The person who will receive your card can get interested in your offerings when he or she sees your card. In the same way, if you will be delivering packages, make sure your cards are attached to them. You can even make your card the tag in your packages. This will help people get your contact information in case they need to contact you.

5 – Leave your cards in public place.

This can be on public bulletin boards, restaurants, grocery stores, public libraries, and even at your kid’s school. It is a good idea to also place a bulletin board in your office to let other people to place their cards. You can also place a fishbowl in your office where people can place their cards to win prices. If other businesses have their own fishbowl, don’t forget to throw your card.
