Writing a Good Conclusion
Everything that has a beginning must have an end. Every report or article should come with an impressive conclusion. A conclusion is usually at the last paragraph of an essay. The conclusion, therefore, refers to the final submission of the writer on the subject of discuss which sums up his/her final thoughts on the subject(s) of discussion. Hence, an essay is not complete without a conclusion. The conclusion paragraph is the ending paragraph of every good write-up or article.
The following text therefore attempts to describe the qualities of an impressive conclusion in an essay, report, article or other write-ups.
You may want to ask; why do we need a conclusion in a write-up or an article? The truth is, we cannot overemphasize the importance of a conclusion in any write-up or article as the conclusion is always precise and straight to the point. If you want a quick hint on what a whole text is all about, you may take a quick look on the concluding paragraph of the article or write-up. This concluding paragraph is usually the last paragraph and it gives you a glimpse of what is contained in the entire article or write-up.
It is often said, “Make your entry great and your exit even greater and people will seldom remember your flaws in-between.” Nothing can be truer about writing a conclusion. To achieve impressive conclusions (exit), the following points must be taken seriously:
First, your conclusion must summarize your whole report or essay. That is, the subject you are writing on must be fully encapsulated, such that your reader may, at a glance, absorb the information you are trying to disseminate.
Second, your conclusion must be brief. You don’t have to start telling stories in your conclusion as all the stories are expected to already be contained in the body of the article or write-up.
Lastly, your conclusion must be conclusive without losing meaning and coherence with the main text. Your readers must be able to lay hold on tangible facts they from which they can draw necessary inferences.
The absence of a conclusion in your article makes your job appear cumbersome. It will prevent your readers from being able to catch your idea at a glance without having to through the whole of your content. In the event that they can’t go through all your content, they simply lose track of the information you are trying to pass across, and hence, your purpose of writing is defeated.
In conclusion, the concluding part of your text must be creative, brief and must summarizes your idea on the topic discuss in such a manner that will engrave an enduring impression on your readers’ minds.
