What are the Recommended situation Types for using the various Shark Steam Mop pads on?
1. It is recommended that you not use it on unsealed floor surfaces. It can however, be used effectively on all sealed floors.

What floor types should my Steam Pocket Mop be used on?
The Steam Pocket? Mop can be used on all sealed hard floor surfaces – including sealed hardwood, linoleum, ceramic tile, or marble and other stone floors. Note that we do not suggest use of this product on unsealed surfaces, such as unfinished hardwood, unglazed ceramic floors, or unsealed stone floors.
On surfaces that have been treated with wax or some no wax floors, the sheen may be removed by the heat and steam action. We recommend testing an isolated area of the surface to be cleaned before proceeding.

Can I add Cleaning solutions to the water in the tank?
Only water must be used. For various reasons, it is better to use only waters without adding any cleaning solutions. If cleaning solutions are added, they can have a negative impact on the longivity of the steam mop’s boiler
Additionally, although most of the cleaning solution can be distilled out of the water in the boiler, some of the additive will remain. The reminants of the additive can end up forming part of the vapor and depending on the composition of the additive could be detrimental to any one using your shark steam pocket mop or who is close by.
Because of the foregone reasons, it is not recommended that cleaning solutions be added to the water contained in the tank. Just you only water.

Is tap water safe to use?
Although Tap water can be used in the Shark Steam Pocket Mop, distilled water is recommended. It works good with your steam pocket mop’s boiler
If where you live the water is all hard up, never try using it. Just go with distilled water.
Could I use filtered water instead of distilled water?
Distilled water is best. We have learned that distilled water is empty of all minerals and undergoes a multi-step process to be classified as distilled. However, filtered water is indeed better than unfiltered for the boiler life.
