Birth Date Debate Presents Previous Attempts to Find out About President Obama’s Birther Status
A privacy law which protects ??birth certificates has caused the Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie??to stop efforts to dispel claims that President Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii his office claims.State Attorney General David Louie told the governor that laws concerning privacy, bar him from disclosing an individual’s birth documentation without the individuals consent, spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said on Friday.”There is nothing more that Gov. Abercrombie can do within the law to produce a document,” mentioned Dela Cruz. “Unfortunately, there are conspirators who will continue to question the citizenship of our president.”Abercrombie, who has been a friend of Barak’s parents and also knew him as a kid, started an investigation in december into whether he can release more information about the president’s Aug. fourth, 1961 birthdate. The governor said at the time he was bothered by people who questioned Barak’s birth place for reasons polictical in nature.But Abercrombie’s attempt reached a hard wall, when Louie told him the law restricted his right to see the certificate.
Hawaii’s laws about privacy have barred the release of a certified birth certificate to any person who doesn’t have a tangible interest.So called “birthers” claim Barak is in-eligible to be president because they say that there is no proof that he was born in the USA, with many of the skeptics questioning whether he was actually born in the country of Kenya, his father’s home country.Hawaii’s health director said in 2008 & 2009 that she had seen and also verified Obama’s original vital records, and birth notices in two Honolulu newspapers were published within days of Obama’s birth at Gynecological Hospital in Hawaii.Health Dept. spokeswoman Janice Okubo also confirmed on Friday that Obama’s name is found in its alphabetical list of names of people born in Hawaii, maintained in bound copies available for the public view.That information, called index-data, shows a listing for “Obama II, Barack Hussein, Male,” and according to the department’s website.The Obama campaign issued a certificate of live birth in 2008, an official document from the state showing the president’s birth date,
“The index is just to say who has their records within the department. That’s an indication,” Okubo said. “I can’t talk about anyone’s records
