When suspicion or doubt enters anywhere, neither ever leaves; when confidence or trust leave, neither ever returns! Those are wise and true aphorisms from the past – more than ever true today, in a world where slick, self-indulgent materialism and smoke-and-mirror subterfuge have replaced boy-scout morality. Even TV Host Chris Mathews (of “I felt a thrill going up my leg when I heard Obama”), an ardent supporter of the President, felt obliged to bring up the question of Obama’s legal right to be Chief Executive, considering the Constitutional requirement of USA birth (Article 2, Section 1). Matthews (with “Let’s play hard-ball” credo) is upset by a poll that indicates a full 20 percent of Americans do not believe Obama has birth legitimacy, with many more uncertain – much too large a percentage of US citizenry to be shrugged off as anti-Obama racists.Matthews’ tone during a TV interview was indicative of Liberal/Democratic concerns that the “birther” issue could play a sizable role in the 2012 presidential election. “Why has the president himself not demanded they put out the original documents?” asks Matthews – the same question phrased by many. “If it exists, why not put it out? Aren’t those numbers large enough for Obama and his administration to put those doubts to rest?”This attitude represents a major change for Matthews and other previously staunch supporters of Obama, who were not only dismissive of the question, but attacked those who dared express it. It is also a new concern for the administration, a growing number of people asking for conclusive documentation to prove the president’s legitimacy. Among the troubling concerns are: why is a short form birth “certification” offered as proof, instead of the “long form” certificate for other Hawaiian-born citizens?; the lack of signatures or listing of medical doctors or personnel in attendance; the appearance of “doctoring” on an embossment, on the seal, no “fold” crease on the proffered document, etc.Much credence re Obama’s Hawaiian birth was given by “No-Spin Zone” Bill O’Reilly prior to the election – on a birth announcement in The Honolulu Adviser newspaper, Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961: “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6035 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug. 4″Of course, to dispel doubts of this being only a specially contrived artifact arranged by a conspiratorial US election organization, perhaps a dozen other copies of that newspaper kept by other families with children born on the same date would dispel doubt.Or perhaps not – a “Certification of Birth” in lieu of a “Birth Certificate”; no signatures of attending physicians or medical personnel – would still remain troubling to any “doubting Thomas” – or Jack or Jill.However, this renewal of interest stirs up other areas of “doubt”: the sealing of Obama’s entire school history by an apparent army of lawyers. President Obama, who campaigned for “open – full disclosure”, will not unseal his Harvard, Columbia or Occidental College records – in addition, no one can see his school records for the elite K-12 college prep Punahou School he attended in Hawaii. And his Social Security Number and Selective Service card may be the biggest mysteries of all. What is being hidden? Records shed light on citizenship (e.g. Foreign Student application) and birth places, and how an expensive education was funded – seemingly without student loans. One thing is known for sure – there is less known about President Obama in the “Information Age” than of any public official since the founding of the country.Records are sealed because powerful interests do not want their contents disclosed to public view. The unanswered question is “Why?” With the Republican party in control of the House of Representative in 2011 – should they hold hearings on Mr. Obama’s hidden past – testimony “under oath” (with severe perjury penalty), should be much more forthcoming than has been proffered here-to-fore.
