Honda d16y8 Remanufactured Engines are Often Better than New Factory Engines

Restoring an engine back to its original form is considered making a remanufactured engine. Remanufactured engines are reproduced similar to how the original engine was made by dismantling the old engine completely from part to part. Remanufactured engines are then checked for defects and every part that is found defective is replaced with original equipment manufacturer parts. The remanufacaturer can use aftermarket parts, called OEM parts, which also has the same quality of the original part depending on the brand of the replacement.

The parts that cannot be replaced like the engine block and the cylinder head will undergo a different process which is identical to giving it a total face lift and rejuvenating its life as a remanufactured engine. The bores, where the piston moves up and down, will be recoated with the process called thermal spraying. This restores the engine bores back to its original size and diameter, so that the new piston and piston rings will fit correctly. These re-coated bores can even be re-bored to increase the engine horsepower.

Remanufactured engines are designed to run like new once they complete the remanufacturing process. The only parts that are not replaced in a remanufactured engine are the engine block, cylinder heads and other major components inside the engine that are designed to withstand the ongoing wear and tear that engine moving parts endure.

Remanufactured engines can actually outperform new original manufactured engines as the remanufacturing process actually fixes or improves any factory defects from the new engine in the remanufacturing process.

Comparing a remanufactured engine to a new factory engine the cost is much less via the remanufacturing process. This is due to two factors. First, the fact that the remanufacturer can reuse major components such as the engine block and the heads and second, the cost savings from not having to use all new parts.

Consider using a remanufactured engine if replacing an old engine as the cost will be much lower than the new factory engine for essentially the same quality.
