The SANMAR GROUP is one of India’s largest and leading PVC manufacturers. The Group’s business spans various industry segments such as Chemicals, Engineering, Metals and Shipping. The Group has set a benchmark for global partnerships in a range of industry segments.

In line with the SANMAR Group’s vision of “integrity and excellence” the company has been painstakingly and unfalteringly working on protecting the environment. The company’s zero liquid discharge facilities at its plants reflects its steadfastness in conducting an ethical business. What this means is that no effluent is discharged from any of its plants at Mettur, Karaikal and Cuddalore.  Sanmar has stringent procedures in place to ensure that all its plants comply with the zero liquid discharge policy.

One of the many efforts in safeguarding the environment that has been lauded is the INDUSTRIAL GARDEN at KARAIKAL.  Chemplast Sanmar’s industrial garden at Karaikal was adjudged the best at the 16th Annual Flower show. A panel of experts from the Agriculture Department and the Karaikal College of Agriculture judged the flower show. The first prize was awarded to Sanmar’s industrial garden. This is the 7th time that the Group has won this award from the Puducherry Government.

A green belt exceeding 16 acres has been developed around the Chemplast Sanmar plant at Karaikal. Although Karaikal is an agricultural area it was no easy task to achieve the level of greenery that Sanmar has developed.  Post Tsunami the soil had become salty and it was indeed a challenging task to develop a green belt around the plant. The local communities actively participated by bringing their expertise and know-how to help SANMAR in their green efforts.

Sanmar is a great example for companies that want to save the environment. If only more such corporates come forward, we shall see a big difference in a few years from now. After all, “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.”
