London, A Birthday Gift
Everyone has that one friend that goes that extra mile on your birthday, or at least I assume everyone is as fortunate as I am. In my case, her name is Cindy. I have known her for years, and we have been quite close ever since the third grade. It was just one of those things, we were inseparable. Anyway, I would like to thank Cindy for the wonderful birthday I just had. I just turned 35, and to tell you the truth I was kind of feeling down about the whole thing. I am not sure what it is about aging that causes people to panic and stress out, but I too am guilty of it. 35 is a big year for many people, serving as that tipping point where you are expected to your life on the right track; the last thing you want is to be “that guy” at the Christmas party. Anyway, Cindy, knowing all of this, surprised me with not only a vacation, but a vacation in London, England.
I was absolutely beside myself when I received this news. How could she afford this? She told me that money was not an issue, and I should instead focus on what I was going to pack; haha that is so like her.
The cab driver dropped us off at the hotels near Wembley arena, and I was kind of unsure about which of the Wembley hotels was ours. Cindy had been keeping the whole thing a secret, as she is somewhat of a prankster. She asked me which of the Wembley hotels I wanted to stay at, and I pointed to one particular one with large columns out front. She said “I thought so” and we marched in. It was shocked that she knew me so well, as to be able to pick out the hotel that I wanted to stay at. And that was how we started our trip to London. What a trip of a lifetime.
