It covers the majestic destinations of Maharashtra, including, Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ellora, Chandrapur, Wardha, Ajanta and Nasik.
One of the cities of Maharashtra covered by Deccan Odyssey is Kolhapur. It is the last trace found by the father of Maratha power, Shivaji, who died after the Moguls decline. Today Kolhapur has acquired the social reforms and public buildings, and has renowned as a center of outdoor sports, notably the exotic business of pig sticking, and an extraordinary form of hunting deer.
Sights & Attractions
Pilgrimage sights – the city comprises of number of beautiful temples. Some of them famous are Mahalaxmi Temple, Jyotiba Temple, Temlabai Mandir, Rambling Bahubali, Narsobachwadi, Khidrapur, Gagangiri Maharaj, and Shankaracharya Math.
Hill stations and Forts – Gaganbawada, Amboli, Panhala, Mahabaleshwar, Paargad, Sammangad, Vishalgad are some of the well known places.
Wildlife and waterfalls – Dajipur Bison Sanctuary, Giroli Tourist Park, Radhanagari Dam, Gokak Falls, and Amboli waterfalls are some known excursions of Kohlapur.
