Fitting visor lights to an emergency vehicle gives them increased visibility

Visor lights are not something you will have seen much of. They are relatively new items of lighting for emergency or first response vehicles.

Interior lighting on emergency or first response vehicles was once just the standard dash lights and warning lights for the vehicle itself. The new generation of lighting for vehicles will fit in many different strategic places on vehicles from the dash to grill and visor area to rear window. The Visor lights are extremely effective as warning lights and also as police take down lights. Most of the new units are fitted with LED lights and they will provide illumination outside the vehicle, which can target dark areas or highlight scenes. Vehicles that are stationary could benefit greatly from the use of Visor lights.

Just because the Visor lights tend to be in compact units it doesn’t mean that the light output is inferior. In fact the exact opposite is probably true, with new generation LED lights the power of even the smaller units is second to none. With LED lighting even the smallest of Visor lights will pack a massive punch in the light department. The Visor lights come with various different flash patterns, different colors and a variety of mounting and power options. This makes the visor light units very versatile and suitable for all kinds of emergency vehicle.

Stationary vehicles are at their most dangerous and they also place the first response personnel in direct danger. Lighting a roadside scene is difficult. Too much light can be a distraction but too little renders the personnel on the road virtually invisible to drivers. The Visor lights offer the ideal solution as they can target areas directly in front of the vehicle, yet not blind drivers with excessive glare or power. Any stationary vehicle needs to be as visible as possible but not to the detriment of road uses. Visor lights are cost effective and an ideal way to add additional hazard warning lighting to your vehicle.

Visor lights are very compact units and that is making them increasingly popular among emergency services departments. The majority of the units are vibration, corrosion and moisture resistant, making them ideal for any emergency vehicle usage. The benefit of having more lighting internally fitted to a vehicle means they are not exposed to the elements and will therefore last much longer. The brightness of LED Visor lights is superior but it won’t drain your battery as LED lighting uses very little power. Visor lights can be strapped to the visor at either side of the vehicle, and can be run from the cigarette lighter, making them ideal as temporary lighting.

First responders do a dangerous job. They never know what they are going to face on any given day on their shift. I don’t think anyone would argue that anything that helps keep them safe must be used. Visor lights can act as warning and they can provide cover for those inside the vehicle by rendering them difficult to see. If personnel can’t be seen in a vehicle then they cannot be targeted by  or missiles. Maintaining safety on our roads should be important to all of us and the emergency vehicle lighting helps maintain our and the first responders safety.
