Having A Baby

So you’re expecting a baby. First thing, congratulations! However, having said that, there are a couple of things you need to take note of – things that folks are unlikely to tell you about, but which might pest you if you don’t know about them in advance.

You need to know that when your baby is born, there is a high probability that it will look very strange indeed. Babies can typically be born blue or grey, and can have a deformed head from having to fit through such a little gap. They are usually bloody and bruised, and may be covered in body hair, notably if they were born early. All this adds up to a very alarming view if you weren’t anticipating it.

You should not fear, though, as the baby will return to average quite quickly – the skin will go to the right color after a couple of minutes, when the baby starts to breathe, and any head injuries and odd hair ought to clear up after a couple of days. Just think that it will take a couple of weeks before your baby starts to look like the cute small thing you were anticipating.

With no doubt, the next thing you need to know is just what you must do with the baby after that. The most vital thing is to breastfeed the youngster. Baby ‘formula’ is like junk food for babies, and you have to stay away from it at all costs – it lacks most of the natural nutrients the toddler needs, and will instead fill your infant with whatever chemicals you have in your water supply. Babies can see, hear and smell, although not very well, and the most essential thing is for the child to be close to its mother – the view of her, the sound of her voice and the smell and taste of her milk will pacify it better than any toy or device ever could.
