Avoid Damaging Your Hair While Blow Drying
Beauty oftentimes has its own risks. And so does blow drying. Unwanted and unnecessary effects are sometimes inevitable. Too much exposure to heat have been proven a deadly threat to hair. But of course if there are problems there are always measures that would help you regulate the damage to those lovely locks and even avoid them.
Choose the blow dryer you can control. There are numbers of blow dryer types out there, choose the ones with adjustable settings so you can reduce and increase the heat. Start with hot setting and turn it to cool when your hair is almost dry. You can also attach diffusers so it will lessen the heat’s impact on your hair. If possible do away with using hair iron or just use it if only needed since you can also achieve most effects with blow drying.
Keep your hair moisturized. You can maintain the natural moisture of your hair by using the right hair care products such as moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Make sure your hair is healthy to avoid further damage. Remember that you have to determine what hair type you have in order to choose the right products. Since blow drying makes your hair dry avoid products that would dry your hair even more, like bleaching and alcohol based gels.
Blow dry your hair correctly. Make sure that your hair is not wet before drying it or else heat will damage your hair and even your scalp. You can towel dry it first before blowing it dry. When you blow dry your hair it is recommended to start with the roots upward. Do not focus a lot of heat on the hair tips because they are usually prone to damage. You can also leave the hair damp and allow it to dry naturally. The lesser time you spend in blow drying your hair, the lesser heat you hair takes and of course the lesser chance of damage. If you cant regulate your hair dryer, you can position it at least six to eight inches away from your hair.
Care for your hair. Your hair just like everything that goes through everyday wear and tear, needs rest too. So once in a while put off blow drying. You can have it alternately or every other day. Normally, its the hair tips that are being damaged so have them trimmed to avoid the damage from crawling up to the roots of your hair.
