Offer items you aren’t going to take to friends and family. In fact, it will be much easier to leave things behind if you know you have found them a good home. You might also consider having a garage sale or donating items to a good charity. If you feel good about where your things are going it will make things easier to part with.
When you pack items pack the things you are going to need first at the new place, last at the old place. It makes it much easier when you get to the new place.
